There are three Spring Cleaning areas that I’d like to tackle before the season passes us by – the kitchen, master closet, and office. I have the knowledge of how to get it done. But, I don’t feel right passing it along until I’ve actually tackled the areas myself.
Progress has been slow, though. Actually, it been tough to even get started!
After Kellog Virtual Breakfast Conversation at The Motherhood last week, however, I got motivated to organize the kitchen. The talk was all about making healthy breakfasts for your family (by the way, you can – and should – read the entire summary here) and it got me thinking that a completely organized revamped kitchen would make that task so much easier!
I decided to take my own advise and just start with one thing. Instead of tackling the entire kitchen, I organized one area: under the sink.
Kitchen Cabinet Organization (Before):
When we unpacked at our new house, I basically shoved everything I could into drawers and doors to get them out of boxes. It made for quick unpacking, but very messy living. I couldn’t find anything under the sink and I realized that I had entirely too many supplies and gadgets.
With the sink and garbage disposal, it can make having an organized cabinet almost impossible.
Kitchen Cabinet Organization (After):
I did, however, find a solution. This fantastic shelf that expands and adjusts to fit around the pipes under a sink is amazing! I put the shelf as far back as possible to store items that aren’t needed daily. It has two shelves so I actually have three levels to organize the products. Supplies that I use often are towards the front for easy viewing and access.
The picture may not convey exactly how much this little gadget has changed my life, but this little organization shelf has made everything much more accessible and actually usable. Although, I still have way too many products, I certainly won’t be buying more due to not being able to find what I have.
It also got me motivated to keep going though kitchn and I hope to finish by the end of the week. As soon as the rest is finished, I’ll share before and after pictures as well as a few tips for organizing your own space.
Until then, let me know your kitchen trouble spots in the comments!
