Between night time and naps, babies spend a majority of their first few years sleeping. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it! That’s why so many moms diligently research baby cribs and make sure they follow recommended guidelines for what to keep in the crib.
But does that same research go into the type of mattress the baby spends so much time on?
Before I heard about the Lullaby Earth mattress, I frankly thought a mattess was a mattress. After researching it though, I knew the mattress my little guy was going to sleep on would be an important decision. That’s why I was so thankful Lullaby Earth sent one of their mattresses for my new bundle of joy to use.
Why use a Lullaby Earth mattress?
The Lullaby Earth mattress doesn’t contain harmful chemicals or allergens like so many others. Since my guy can spend up to 15 hours a day sleeping on his baby mattress, this was a huge selling point!
“It’s completely free of polyurethane foam (including “soybean” foam blends), vinyl/PVC, polyurethane coated nylon or damask, PFC water-resistant treatments, antibacterial biocides and the various chemicals associated with these materials. Fire protection is achieved with hydrated silica, a harmless natural mineral.”
This mattress is only 7 pounds. It’s so light the shipping box felt empty!
The Lullaby Earth mattress has a snug fit. When I first placed the mattress in the bed, I actually thought it was too large and wouldn’t fit. Do baby mattresses come in different sizes? I kept trying and realized it was just a really GREAT fit. There would be no baby hands getting stuck between the mattress and crib, that’s for sure!
It has a firm surface. Not hard as a rock. But, I don’t think there will be any saggy parts after years of sleeping on it either…even after it’s used in a toddler bed.
It’s waterproof. Accidents are sure to happen so we all know how important this feature is, right? Just clean the mess right up and it’s good as new.
The Lullaby Earth mattress is recyclable. My hope is that this mattress can be used for many babies (even if they aren’t all mine), but at some point, it won’t be needed anymore. Instead of throwing it out with the trash, I like that it’s made of common recyclable materials.
It’s affordable. I did a quick search on the website of a popular baby store and found a few baby mattresses that were less expensive. But there were also several in the same price range that didn’t even compare in the benefits department. And all of the other organic and eco-friendly mattress were priced much higher!
Overall, I’m very pleased with the Lullaby Earth mattress for all of the benefits listed above. I sleep well because I know my little guy isn’t breathing in harmful chemicals and I don’t have to worry about other dangers. He sleeps well because….well, because he’s a baby :)
If you’re researching mattresses for your new bundle of joy, make sure you visit Lullaby Earth to find out more!
*Disclosure: I was provided a mattress to review but all opinions are my own.
