Sassy Sauce: Ingenious Use for Vinegar

in Cleaning Kids

I have a friend who’s children are extremely well-behaved.

You could say the kids were just born that way.

I would say she trained them to be that way.

You see, my friend is a spit fire; full of personality and funny to the bone. She’s also brilliant. Put those qualities together and what you get is Sassy Sauce.

We already know that vinegar has a 1001 uses but it’s quite possible that this is a use for vinegar you haven’t thought of before: Sassy Sauce.

Recipe for Sassy Sauce

Ingredients:

  • Vinegar
  • Spray Bottle

Directions:

Spray sparingly on the tongue of a kids who’s getting a little too sassy.

Uses for Sassy Sauce:

Let’s say your kids are getting a little sassy.

Ask them if they want to rephrase their last statement. If they say “no,” just spray a little Sassy Sauce on their tongue.

Let’s say your kids are getting a little sassy again.

Ask them if they want to rephrase their last statement. More than likely they will gladly do so.

Let’s say your kids are getting a little sassy in the car.

Pull the spray bottle out of your purse and calmly sit it on the dashboard. Chances are they’ll simmer down quickly.

Let’s say your kids are getting a little sassy in public.

Quietly show them you have Sassy Sauce stashed in your purse. More than likely they will return to good behavior very quickly. After all, sticking out your tongue to get sprayed with Sassy Sauce isn’t something many kids want to happen in front of their friends!

Disclaimer: No kids have been harmed by the use of Sassy Sauce. If it’s good enough to season food, I’m pretty sure it’s good enough to train kids to season their words :) Linked to Your Green Resource and Crystal & Co.

Love it! Our kiddo is 12 going on 21! Perfect age when sassiness is at it’s worst – Sassy Sauce may come in very handy. Great idea!

What an awesome idea!! I will definitely be using Sassy Sauce with my goslings. Our cat can be pretty sassy too – he might be getting a squirt or two.

This would not work on my daughter – she loves vinegar. Here in Canada, we often put this “saucy sauce” on our french fries, potato chips or breaded fish…minus the added water of course.

I used to put a drop on my kiddos tongue for bad language, but never thought of spraying it on the tongue. Now I keep it mixed half and half with water by my sink for various kitchen clean ups, but it also works great to keep my cats off the counter and table. No mostly all I have to do is reach for it. Very seldom do I have to actually spray them with it.

I wonder just how young is too young for sassy sauce… my sass comes from the two-year-old variety. Maybe I need to find my little squirt bottle and put it to the test.

If this isn’t a hoax or hacked post, I’m disgusted. Right up there with that chick who was on the Facts of Life. Great “parenting.”

I’m curious to know why you don’t like this idea? I’ve never used it myself but since vinegar is edible and is often used as a natural remedy for ailments it isn’t harmful. How would you/do you deal with children who are disrespectful, talk back, and/or disobey?

I have to make myself some sassy sauce right away! With my luck, the kids will probably like the taste!

I wish I would have thought of that when my kids were little. They are 26 and 23 now, too late to help. Luckily, they were never very sassy.

I agree – this is genius! I bought my small spray bottle last night and will be putting it to the test today! I do have one question though since you make it seem so easy to get the sassy sauce in child’s mouth. What happens when they fight you tooth & nail to keep their mouth closed?
