Baking Soda Used for Insect Bite Relief

in Green Cleaning, Products, recipes

My family does everything we can to prevent insect bites but, unfortunately, it’s just not feasible to prevent them all. We recently spent the majority of our weekend outside and despite the insect repellent precautions, we all needed some itching relief.

Thankfully, a quick search on Google provided a natural recipe for Insect Bite Relief that proved to be very effective:

Natural Recipe for Insect Bite Relief

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
  • 1 Tablespoon Water

Directions:

Mix together to form a paste and apply to insect bite.

I use baking soda as an inexpensive substitute for an antacid. My BIL suffers from acid reflux, and when he recently visited, he forgot his antacid pills. I gave him a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda to drink. He was skeptical, but it soon alleviated the condition. He now uses it whenever he gets heartburn, as it is much cheaper that buying OTC meds.

I love using A&H baking soda to make up a soft scrubbing paste for my pots and pans. It has just enough power to remove the food without being too abrasive.

I recently started doing what they call the “no shampoo” (or no ‘poo, more popularly) method of washing my hair with baking soda and I love it! So I guess one of my favorite cleaning uses is for cleaning me!
