Do you have a stand up shower with a door that just never seems clean?
Is it because you can’t get it clean? Or, because the shower really never gets cleaned? (That’s hard to admit, I know…but, it happens.)
Perhaps the shower walls and floor may get a scrub every once in a while, but what about the door frame and jam…the places that take just a little too much elbow grease? Those areas may be so full of gunk and grime that you think the only hope of having a truly clean shower again is to replace the entire thing.
Well, there may be a solution for all that stuck on gunk!
I recently had the opportunity to see a true professional house cleaner in action. One who’s entire focus was to give some resemblance of cleanliness to a dirty, old bathroom. She was moving along pretty well until she got to the stand up shower. She whitened the shower walls and floor pretty well. But when it came to the shower door frame, she scrubbed the best she could, but finally had to pull out a secret weapon: Oven Cleaner.
I know, I know. If you only use natural products, homemade cleaning solutions, or are trying your best to “green,” you’re probably having a stroke right now. BUT, let me tell you, it WORKED! What seemed like a hopeless cleaning project turned into a huge success! Sometimes the grime is so bad that you just need the strong stuff, right?
To Use Oven Cleaner to Remove Build-up On Your Shower:
- Spray oven cleaner on the hard to clean areas.
- Let sit for 10 minutes.
- Scrub as usual.
When your shower is clean, you may want to try this quick tip (and maybe even this one) to ensure it stays that way!
How do you remove grime from your stand up shower? Have you ever tried oven cleaner?

Wow! Who would have thought? Great tip!! I’ll try it!
Can you clean the hard water stains off of glass? I would try it, but I am in a rental and wouldn’t want to ruin it.
