Store bought flour and sugar can be an absolute mess if not stored properly. Many people remove the contents from the original packaging by pouring it into an airtight container that sits on the counter or in the pantry. If, however, your family goes through those two ingredients slowly, you might be one who stores staples like these in the refrigerator to slow spoilage and keep the bugs out.
Storing flour and sugar in the original packaging can be quite messy at times. The grains seem to always find a way to shimmy through the creases causing a pile to make it’s way to the shelf (or even the floor).
Thankfully, there is a way to prevent the mess:
Gallon size zip-lock bags.
The bags help keep the sugar and flour fresh longer. But, most importantly, they keep the refrigerator clean and spill free.
How do you store sugar and flour?

That’s a great tip. Those ziplock bags are a wonderful invention and I always have plenty spare for keeping things fresh. In fact I even use them for other things besides food, I keep all my plant seeds in one as well.
I have never heard of storing sugar in the fridge! :) I thought sugar didn’t really “spoil”, at least for white refined sugar…?? :)
