Clean Eating, Chore Charts, Clogs, and More

in Good Reads

Last week I mentioned that I’d be participating in the first ever virtual cooking school sponsored by The Motherhood and ConAgra. It was noted on my facebook page that some may have liked to participate  schedules wouldn’t allow. So, I thought I’d share a few of the highlights as well as direct you to The Motherhood’s summary page where you can read all the tips quickly!

Tips on how to prepare nutritious meals without sacrificing taste:

It’s important to be mindful of the amount and types of food you are eating to maintain healthy habits.

  • Fill half that plate with veggies and then do a quarter each of starch and protein!
  • For taco night, mix canned pumpkin in with browned ground turkey.
  • Add in shredded carrots to tomato sauce on pizza or pasta, moisten meatloaf with shredded zucchini.
  • Adding black beans, kidney beans, chickpeas or any beans is a great healthy way to cut back on meat.
  • Flavor not fat. Reach into the spice cupboard instead of adding oils or creams to meals. Cumin, chili powder, chipotle and garlic are some favorites.
  • Try soup as a healthy supper since you can hide all sorts of veggies/grains/lentils in it and the kids eat it up.
  • Use vanilla or cinnamon to trick your tastebuds into thinking it’s sweet!
  • These are just a few of the highlights so make sure to take a few minutes to read the other tips and to find links to some fantastic recipes The Motherhood’s summary page.

Here are a few other posts to read this weekend. Hopefully, the tips will help you spend less time cleaning and more time with the ones you love!
