The other day I looked at the ingredient list on the back of the spray butter we have in our refrigerator. It listed a bunch of stuff I couldn’t even pronounce like soylecithin, polygycerol, & xanthan. What caught me off guard the most was the fact that there wasn’t any kind of butter/margarine in the Spray BUTTER! I was shocked! But, it got me thinking. I need to kick it up a notch when it comes to feeding my family. We need to clean up our diet!
I know I usually talk about cleaning the home on iDreamofClean. But, I recently came across several rave reviews for Real Food for Rookies and just had to share since I’m all pumped up about clean eating. It’s a 12 week class that teaches you how to eliminate processed foods and begin cooking with REAL food! It’s apparently a perfect opportunity for real food rookies like me to learn about clean eating. But, it’s also great for those that have been cooking with real food for quite a while and have fallen into a rut. They teach how to eat real food without breaking the budget (woot!) and even how to deal with food allergies (we have a few of those in my family!). So, this seems right up my alley!
It starts on the 16th and I can’t wait! Will you be joining me? It’s $10 per class BUT if you are an iDreamofClean reader, you can get a 15% discount on the Real Food for Rookies class by using the coupon code clean15!

Hello,
I recently learned about a spray bottle you can buy specifically for oils. One brand is the Misto, but there are others. They average 10-20 bucks on Amazon, and you can fill them with any oil you like. I thought that was awesome. I am going to order one when I get enough Swagbucks :)
I just found one of these at Home Goods but I don’t think the brand was Misto. It was an off brand. And, I’m so sad because it doesn’t work!! I looked at the back of a Non-stick cooking spray and it listed all those crazy ingredients too so using real oil definitely seems like a much better option. So glad you mentioned the brand Misto so I can look for another one…and I’ll try to save my swagbucks for this too :-) I just used mine up buying coconut oil!
I have been using spray butter.. now I think I will throw it away! Thanks for getting me thinking and for the great class idea.
I know…it kind of makes me sad to say goodbye. Spray butter is just so convenient!
My husband won’t let me use anything but REAL full fat butter… no spray butter in our house!!
I’m very interested in the Real Food for Rookies class…I may have to join (only $10!!)
Thanks for the info…and the 15% off!
Well, it’s $10 per class…12 classes…so that changes things a bit :-)
I’m pretty sure we’re moving in the real butter direction too….gone are the days of spray…but all for the good of our health!
I love your blog name and your header is so cute! I love cleaning and organizing, although you wouldn’t know it sometimes, haha.
That class sounds cool, I will have to check it out. Thanks for the link!
What a kewl site you have here. I love it. Need to spend a bit more time looking around.
I love your header too, and I’m with you….I love a clean home. :)
Reading your post this AM, has me thinking that maybe I need to clean up my eating too. So much to do and so little time. Gonna check out the link you provided too.
Hope you have a blessed week.
Hugs!
I actually won a giveaway for this Rookie class. So I too will be learning starting on the 16th.
Just visiting from Making Your Home Sing Monday @Mom’s the Word.
I hope you have a great week!
That is FANTASTIC!!! Can’t wait to learn together :-)
I wish I could sign up for the Real Food for Rookies class, but I’m a bit swamped this fall with blogging, volunteering, taking care of my family.
I highly recommend reading Nina Planck’s book, Real Food: What to Eat and Why. She does a great job of explaining stuff at a level any mom can understand, without needing a degree in nutrition. Michael Pollan is another good author to read, but personally I liked Planck’s book better.
Thank you so much for the suggestion! I’ll check it out!
I have been trying to make some healthy changes in our home, too. Much less packaged food and much more real food. We tried to go vegetarian, but that lasted about 3 days. We’ve settled into good, home-style cooking with real ingredients…and the key has been watching portion sizes. We’re all starting to feel better and quite satisfied!
Blessings!
Brandi
I’m fairly new down this road as well. It sure is eye opening. I have kept the spray “olive oil” around for my husband who cooks once a week. I usually keep an old butter wrapper around to butter a pan, but honestly it doesn’t work quite as well. Maybe coconut oil would work better?
I’ll have to look at the book by Nina Planck…I haven’t heard of her. I will be picking up Nourishing Traditions today from the library.
Good luck in your journey!
I’m with you! We actually watched Food Inc. last night!!! I found your blog through Mom’s The Word blog and I’m SO glad I did!!
