The most bacterial laden spots in your kitchen are:

  • Anywhere You Touch (faucet, refrigerator handles, stove handles)
  • Dish Sponges (we’ve covered how to eliminate bacteria on the kitchen sponge.)
  • Cutting Boards (wood cutting boards can have 200 times more fecal bacteria than a toilet seat, so plastic is better than wood. Clean by using a high-heat dishwasher and/or bleach.)
  • Wood Countertops (use bleach to clean the surface if you have wood countertops. Stainless steel is a better countertop choice. You can find out how to clean granite countertops here.)

My kitchen floor would never make it in a restaurant. It’s gross. But all those bacteria-laden areas, I’m actually good at keeping clean. Whew!
