One way to keep our home clean and organized is to simplify our possessions. We can do this by living in a small home and/or finding ways to sell or donate items we don’t need. We can also try going paperless, although there are some ways paper buildup happens that are beyond our control — ever heard of Junk Mail?
I don’t know about you but I feel really guilty about throwing away catalogs, newspapers, and excess packaging that comes in the mail. But, we often don’t have the time to go through it and we certainly don’t need to keep it laying around and cluttering up our home. What can we do about the excess that comes in the mail? We can remove ourselves from junk mail lists!
I ran across a very thorough tutorial for removing yourself from junk mail lists that will help reduce the amount of unnecessary items that come in the mail. They’ve listed phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses to contact for removing your address from mailing lists. There are also some practical tips for what to do and what not to do when it comes to contacting these companies.
I’m going to take a few minutes to implement these tips today. How about you?
How do you deal with junk mail?

I might get rotten tomatoes thrown at me for saying this, but….
I like getting junk mail.
Here’s the only reason why: Julia is at the age where she loves getting the mail and wanted to open everything. So, whenever we get junk mail it’s “her mail”. And she loves it! Once she’s done “reading” she puts it in the recycling bin and we’re ready for the next round of junk mail.

Well, I never thought of that! What if I start sending you my junk mail so she can have even MORE fun? :-) Just kidding!

I found your site through the Finer Things Friday blog hop. So glad that you wrote about this topic.
I have to agree with you. Downsizing the structure and the contents of our homes is incredibly important. I didn’t realize just how important until I suffered a stroke. Recovery and the required medications robbed me of energy and strength for over two years. I thought my home was small before the stroke but when I couldn’t keep it clean it felt HUGE. I thought I had eliminated all the clutter I possibly could but when I couldn’t keep things clean, I knew it was time for a hefty discarding. It had to wait two years before I could do something about it.

Thanks! I just registered. I’d rather have an empty mailbox than one stuffed full of shinola I’ll never even open!
