10 Quick Cleaning Tips You Can Implement Today

in Cleaning 101

Since beginning iDreamofClean four months ago, we’ve barely scratched the surface. But, then again we’ve covered quite a bit of ground. Here are 10 quick cleaning tips that have been featured over the past few months that you can implement today:

  1. First, make a cup of coffee to get energized! Then, instead of throwing out those used coffee grounds, stick them in a plastic container, poke holes in the top and deodorize your refrigerator.
  2. Utilize cleaning tips from the pros. They really help!!
  3. Keep your cleaning products and tools with you for easy access.
  4. Make sure you have a nylon pan scraper in your cleaning bag to easily remove grime and gunk from just about anything. It is the best. tool. EVER! (in my humble opinion!)
  5. Spend 5 Minutes cleaning your kitchen every night.
  6. Disinfect you kitchen sponges in the microwave or dishwasher often.
  7. Next clean your microwave by boiling a cup of water to loosen the buildup. You should be able to easily wipe away the mess.
  8. Brush your hair before showering to prevent clogs in the bathroom drain.
  9. Use rubbing alcohol to get a spotless mirror or glass. It’s inexpensive and very effective! My awesome husband was helping me clean this weekend and asked if we had a really great glass cleaner. I pointed him in the direction of the spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol and he went to work. After finishing he raved about how well it worked and even said it was the best our sliding glass doors had ever looked!
  10. Develop a few cleaning habits like washing a load of laundry every day and utilizing a junk drawer.

Have you implemented any cleaning tips recently?

I like that we can use used coffee grounds as a deodorizer! I usually have to throw mine away.

I also love it when I make time to clean the kitchen at night. So nice to wake up to a clean kitchen!

Now I just need to make time to fold that neverending pile of laundry!

I do the easy ones, like microwaving the sponges (or putting them in the dishwasher) and boiling water in the microwave before cleanings. In general, I am a lazy housekeeper though. I’m not sure I have the energy at night for the 5-minute kitchen clean-up, but I like the idea of using a timer to see how long it actually takes. I have to sweep the floor too (toddler and baby).

I can’t wait to try the rubbing alcohol trick! One of my cleaning tricks–vinegar and baking soda to remove carpet stains. I’ve learned a lot of homemade remedies, thanks to my children! :)

I’ve been using my coffee grounds as fertilizer for acid-loving plants. But now I might have to save some of them for the refrigerator. Great tip; thanks!

Nylon pan scrapers are the best! I do a load of laundry every day so that it doesn’t get overwhelming.

I loved the sponge-disinfecting tips. I think Alicia @ aliciashomemaking.com featured you in a post, but I forgot to read it, so this reminded me! :) And the coffee grounds….awesome.

Good idea about brushing your hair BEFORE the shower. As a family of 5, all with thick hair, clogged drains are a problem. I’ll have to implement this new process.
