It’s not often that I get the opportunity to spend the night with my mom. Last night, though, I got to do just that.
She kept my son while I attended a church function. Instead of waking up my baby and driving 45 minutes home, I decided to just spend the night since both of our husbands were out of town. It was late when I arrived at her house so we didn’t get to talk much last night. But, we did get to hang out for a little while this morning!
When she left for work I considered going home. I decided to give her an early Mother’s Day present instead.
I cleaned her house!
Now, I don’t like to clean. At all! But, for some reason, it’s sort of bearable when helping someone else. I dusted, cleaned the baseboards, windows, and even disinfected as much as possible in the dishwasher! I tried to do the things that she probably doesn’t get to often.
As if cleaning wasn’t enough, I even went grocery shopping for her!
It’s not like cleaning and grocery shopping are that big of deal. It didn’t take much effort or time from me. But, I think she’ll really like it! Personally, I would be ecstatic if someone did that for me! Wouldn’t you? (Actually, you could have someone come clean your house if you win this! Or, maybe you could give it to your mom.)
I may do something else for her on Mother’s Day. We’ll see. But for now, Happy early Mother’s Day, Mom!
If you are a mom (even if you aren’t) and you could have any gift, opportunity, service, etc. for Mother’s Day, what would it be?

Awww…that’s so nice! I should do that for my MIL this year. She’s been like crazy busy and last time I was over…it was quite messy (to put it nicely!).
After I had my son (via Csection) she cleaned my whole house for me while I was in the hospital. This would be a great chance to return that favor!
Thanks for the suggestion!

That is really sweet of you! I’d totally love it if someone cleaned my house. Talk about a practical but awesome gift! :) I think aside from house cleaning – a day at the spa (or half day, or just an hour!) would be a pretty sweet Mother’s Day gift. Now how to gently hint that to my husband. ;)

Oh, YEAH!!!! Perfect choice!
That was a REALLY nice thing to do! I don’t know if I’d be comfortable with someone else cleaning my house…unless it was my Hubby, my daughters or my Mom. My Mother-in-law has offered several times, but it feels weird to think of her cleaning it. I know she means well, but I feel like she’s implying I don’t keep the house clean enough for her son & grandchildren or something! Weird, I know, but it really makes me uncomfortable every time she offers. Maybe it’s because she’s cleaned my sink several times and once washed my floors when I wasn’t home. Makes me cringe!
If someone else cleaned my house, it’d have to be someone I didn’t know…and I’d probably still clean it before they came! ;D I’d probably rather go to have my hair done & a mani/pedicure. Or a massage. Or all of the above!

That sounds like the best Mother’s Day gift ever!
Thanks! I sure wouldn’t mind it! :-)
