Every time I’ve walked in the door the past two years, I’ve looked at the scuff marks that are all along the entry hall wall. And every time I’ve walked in the door it’s bugged me. Well, last week my husband and I bought some paint and finally touched up that wall.
It took all of 5 minutes!
Now every time I walk in the door, I wonder why we waited so long!
Instead of washing the paint brush immediately, I just covered it with aluminum foil. You know, in case we needed to paint another coat. Not because I was being lazy. *ahem*
Anyway, I just pulled the aluminum foil off paint brush and it has dried paint all over it!
I’ve learned my lesson…next time I’ll clean the paint brush immediately.
In honor of Earth Day, I’m going to try an all natural method of cleaning my paint brush.
Apparently, to remove hardened paint on brushes, all you have to do is soak it in a pot filled with white distilled vinegar for an hour and then bring the vinegar to a simmer. Drain and rinse clean.
All natural and easy. Works for me!

My hubby is the expert home painter around here. He worked for a professional painting company for 8 years through high school & college. I know this may sound weird to you, but he does the foil trick and puts it in the refridgerator! I never really questioned him why he does that, but it must be to keep the paint from drying out on the brush!?!?!?? It drives me crazy to see such a foreign object in my refridgerator where we keep our food, but whatever works, I guess!
By the way…did you try the lettuce/paper towel trick yet? How’d it work for you???

ooohh…can’t wait to find out! Would be great for craft brushes too–I hate when I go to use a brush and they are hard and crusty—even after cleaning them once already! I usually just rinse them with hot water.

I will try this for sure, since I have a brush that my husband didn’t clean (grrrrr)
Oh, and if you need to do another coat and don’t want to waste the water or roller/brush you can put them in a zip-loc and they will last about a week! I did that when we pained my daughters room and it worked wonders!

What about on the floor and doors? Our painter guy was great except he left some paint in not so great places that I didn’t see right away! Help!
