One way cleaning professionals clean so quickly is by keeping all of their tools and equipment with them at all times. When we’re at home, though, it’s sometimes easy to just keep cleaning materials in their place and go get them as needed. But, that’s not really the best use of our time. I don’t know about you, but when I clean, I want the job finished as quickly as possible so I can move on to better (i.e. FUN) things!
There are some big items like a vacuum, broom, & mop that we should keep with us while we clean, but what about those small items?
How do we keep all of this contained?
How about in a cute little cleaning tote?
It doesn’t have to be this fantastic, but a cute tote sure does make cleaning more fun! (maybe….just maybe…you’ll have an opportunity to win one of these adorable little bags later in the week….maybe.)
Now, what should actually go in the caddy?
Here are my Top 10 Ideas:
- Apron to protect clothes
- Rubber gloves to protect hands
- Squeegee
- Scraper for stuck on grime and buildup
- Tile brush
- Sponge with an abrasive and soft side
- Toothbrush for those really small spaces
- Cleaning solutions (Store bought or homemade cleaning products)
- Cleaning cloths
- Duster
What would go in your cleaning caddy?

I always keep a pumice stone (not a manicuring one) for the hard water rings in my toilets, and small roll of trash can liners.
Oh, that’s a good one! I used one once and it kind of grossed me out…even with gloves. I need a pumice stone with a handle…Ha!
That caddy is ADORABLE. And yes to the toothbrush! It’s the best tool I have!

LOVE that tote!!!! I’d love to win one! I’m just absolutely sure it HAS to make cleaning more fun!! HA! Did you make it? So cute. Enough about that.
I would keep my vinegar/water cleaning solution in there and an apron. I always forget to wear one while cleaning and I usually regret it. Great post!

This makes a lot of sense. Now if only I had a tote to gather all of my stuff up in….
I would also include a bottle of Pledge furniture polish (this is great on stainless steel appliances as well as furniture) and a Magic Eraser. I don’t know what they put in those things, but they get off a lot of gunk that nothing else will.
I’m with Amy, I don’t have a tote either, it’s all piled in a heap under my kitchen sink. Which reminds me, I still have a lot of packing to do.
I always keep my favorite all purpose cleaner in the house however, not under the sink.
Baking soda. It really works with almost everything, you make a gritty paste with baking soda and water, rub it onto the grime/stain scrub it a little. If it’s in the sink/tub etc, you can rinse it away with water, vacuum it up on a carpet, mop it off the other floors…etc.

Something I’d include is a bottle of water, kept well away from the cleaning products, of course! Cleaning makes me thirsty. :-)

This is a great list. I don’t have a caddy, but I alway have the magic erasers in my cabinet. I think those are the best invention ever!

I love that caddy!
I absolutely LOVE your cleaning tote! I need one so badly. I get tired of cleaning when I have to walk back and forth to get products and so on. So I just give up! That will probably make it so much easier for me to actually get the job done.
Found you from UPB10 and I love your blog! Following you now! I hope you stop by and follow us as well! Have a great week!
